COLLABORATE DESIGN

RTKL won the bid to design the Children's and Neurosciences Hospital in Oxford under a PFI Contract, partnering with Carillion. We worked closely with the Trust and Carillion to design the architecture and medical planning. We were aiming to provide something that was playful and strong on the site to reflect the children's part of the facilities whilst reducing the impact to the eye for the neurosciences and specialists services part of the building.

I worked with the medical and space planning teams to  design the departments and, ultimately, the design of each room. I was asked to work on the highly technical departments including theatres and radiology. As time went on, I was asked to provide my expertise for many other areas and ended up overseeing the internal medical design team, on a day to day basis to ensure that the designs were workable and that we kept up to date with any changes.
